Cobranet is considered to be a semi obsolete system even though it had been used extensively in the 2000s.

This writer was developing Cobranet systems for most of the 2000s. And not just by purchasing the CM-1 or CM-2 cards.

We had to, because of form factor limitations, had to design our own physical form factors for the circuits. We also figured out how to send and receive setup and control data, doing communications to and from an external microcontroller. A device that allowed us to control other devices and to send back to the controllling computer, through Cobranet, things like the temperature of the power amplifier in the system as well as allowing selection of certian EQ presets at the amplifier. Plus lots of other fun things.

However that was the past and mainly because of lower latency, the Dante system is driving Cobranet out of the market. Though, through a part time engineer where I worked last who also did cruise ship installations, this writer has been informed Cobranet is still common on cruise ships into the late 201x decade because of the long term reliabilty record.

in the late 2010s into the 2020s, Dante is the preferred system though for all we know, CirrusLogic may have fixed the Cobranbet latency issue by now.
